What Are the Host Cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup?

The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has a total of 11 cities in the western half of the country, where 64 games are played. The host cities vary greatly from the Russian capital of Moscow to the beautiful St. Petersburg and the beautiful beaches of Samara. Other host cities are Yekaterinburg, Saransk, Volgograd, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Kaliningrad.

Moscow

Moscow is the largest city in Russia with a population of over 16 million. This city has an attractive combination of modern and old architecture. The most visited tourist attraction is the Red Square, but there is much more to see in this huge city. While many see Moscow as a cold, icy destination, the current climate is relatively hot, but not exaggerated, which is ideal for watching a game or sightseeing.

Sochi

Sochi is a well-known tourist town on the Black Sea. This city has a history with the successful organization of sporting events, such as the 2014 Winter Olympics. As in the top holiday destination, this city has a lot of tourists to offer, such as restaurants, museums, nightlife and expeditions. In addition, the area is ideal for adventurers with excellent hiking trails, including landscapes such as waterfalls.

Samara

Samara is a pretty unique Russian city with a long beach that stretches all over the city and is one of the biggest attractions in the area. It is a great place to visit in the hot summer months. For those who do not want to spend time on the beach, there are many other attractions, including the Aviation Institute and many buildings that show Soviet architecture.

St. Petersburg

A visit to St. Petersburg allows you to explore Russia's second-largest city, which has inspired many artists, writers and poets over the years. Here are some of the country's best historical treasures, including several famous cathedrals, the Winter Palace and the Hermitage. St. Petersburg is a very cosmopolitan city full of Baroque buildings, rivers and canals that run through the area and easily cross one of the many picturesque bridges.

In general, there are many attractions in Russia's many host cities that make the World Cup experience so much more enjoyable.
